Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill was delighted to see Stiliyan Petrov on the scoresheet again in Saturday's 6-0 victory at Derby County.
"His confidence was down, as happens to every single player, so he was left out of the side for a few weeks.
"I knew he wouldn't take that lying down, that he would want to prove himself, and he is a quality player.
"He is playing a different role to the one he had at Celtic. It's almost like a holding role, but he has the energy and ability to get forward.
"I obviously hope this is the momentum he needs to be successful in the Premier League, which he is capable of being."
