Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has again dismissed talk of Ashley Young going to Real Madrid.

He told AVTV: "As I said before, we have heard nothing from Real Madrid. But, saying that, Ashley is playing so brilliantly that he is almost certain to be linked with big clubs.

"Simply put, he's not for sale. He's just signed a new contract with us.

"I think this is exactly where he should be in this stage of his development and we're hoping we can all develop together. That's our aim.

"But I suppose the people at the football club and Ashley himself should take some reflected glory in it [the story], if in fact there is anything in it.

"But remember, we are getting to the old silly season. Not that the story is silly, just that we are going to be linked with a host of players ourselves and some of our players will be linked with other football clubs too."
