Villa boss O’Neill explains reaction to home boos
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has explained his reaction to jeers from Villa Park fans during yesterday's 2-2 draw with Wolves.
O'Neill was unhappy with a section of the home crowd over their reaction to Wolves' spirited performance.
The Irishman, who mockingly cupped his ear at the boo-boys, said: “I simply do not accept that we have faded this month. It’s nonsense to say that.
“Perhaps being in the FA Cup semi-finals, losing the Carling Cup Final and being in the hunt for Champions League football with nine games left is not good enough.
“Maybe we should be doing that every season. I know it is the way of the Premier League these days for fans to boo – but not every side is doing what we are just now.
“We’re the only side in the Premier League unbeaten in 2010 and I just don’t agree we have been lacklustre in recent weekends.”
