Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has backed young striker Gabriel Agbonlahor to make it in Fabio Capello's England World Cup squad.

The 22-year old netted the winner in the city derby against Birmingham on Sunday and O'Neill believes his club form will translate into international form and give him every chance of being selected for South Africa.

"I am delighted for Gabby. It is a big lift for him," O'Neill said in regards to the winner.

"He was excellent against Liverpool and Fulham, and again at Birmingham.

"Until the World Cup gathers momentum I have not got a major worry. If he continues to play and perform right through the season there is no reason for him to be disregarded."
