Villa boss McLeish wary of late transfer dealings

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is wary of any late transfer deals.

Eck has stressed that he is unwilling to sanction any more departures and insists there has been no firm offers for any of his players.

Asked if there was any chance of new faces with less than two weeks to the transfer window closing, McLeish replied: "Not at the moment, unless some players go.

"Again the wage bill is still at quite a high level. I'm sure there is interest in our players, but we've never had any firm concrete offers.

"If I couldn't get anybody in I definitely couldn't afford to let anybody out.

"We do have a lot of young players backing us up but we don't have a lot in the middle ground. It's either players in their late 20s or young players about the 20-22 mark."
