Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish says they'll soon resume new contract talks with goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Guzan has impressed stepping in for the injured Shay Given.

"We'd already been talking to Brad about a contract before his spell between the sticks and things were quite promising," said McLeish.

"But we'll talk again after we decide to bring Shay back - or whatever. We're hopeful, but I'm sure his bargaining power might have gone up a wee bit.

"It hasn't surprised me how well he's done. I watch him closely in training and he turns up for work every day and puts in a shift. He doesn't just go through the motions, he works from start to finish."
