Villa boss McLeish: I have total faith in Guzan

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has no doubts about his American goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

McLeish believes Guzan's cool demeanour will stand him in good stead ahead of the red-hot rush of matches.

He told AVTV: "We have every faith in Big Brad. He's been excellent, he's been a fantastic trainer in the time I've been here - an exemplary professional.

"When he came on against United I thought he was very cool.

"No players have a bad word to say about him. They get on extremely well with him.

"He's a good type to have around and he has a great professional attitude - he's a manager's dream.

"It's a great opportunity for him to show what he can do now. He'll be playing four or five games maybe and the big fella definitely has the attributes to be a great goalkeeper for Villa.

"He has a big frame, he spreads his body well in the one versus one, he has athleticism and is a very strong kicker of the ball.

"We really like him. He's been twiddling his thumbs for a while to get a break. But the good thing is he was the first guy to say he didn't want the break to come this way with Shay getting injured.

"Terry, my goalkeeping coach, has been impressed too. He said to me within the first couple of weeks that Brad was a terrific worker, brilliant in the training ground, and very supportive of his fellow goalkeepers."
