Villa boss McLeish has no problem with Ireland "passion"

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish insists he has no problem with midfielder Stephen Ireland.

Ireland's passion spilled over last week when he mouthed an obscenity towards his manager, who was giving him an angry blast during the 2-1 defeat at Newcastle.

But McLeish claimed: "If Stevie was to do it in a different way I would take action. But the boy has shown a bit of passion.

"It's not a kickabout on a Sunday afternoon. This is the life-or-death Premier League. It happens all the time, even with Alex Ferguson."
