Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is launching a bid for Blackpool captain Charlie Adam.
The Scottish Sun says McLeish is ready to fight it out with Liverpool for the Scotland midfielder.
McLeish was in charge of Rangers when Adam was just starting his career.
Villa may offer Blackpool a player-plus-cash deal rather than a straight cash move with fellow Scotland star Barry Bannan being offered in part-exchange.
