West Ham United have been encouraged in their pursuit of Aston Villa defender James Collins.
The London Evening Standard says the 28-year-old defender spent four years at Upton Park after joining from Cardiff in 2005 before making a move to Villa in 2009.
New Villa boss Paul Lambert is willing to let Collins leave for around £2million.
