Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert says Christian Benteke deserves recognition for his exploits this season.

Villa's £7million striker, 22, has been a big hit with 15 goals this term despite his club's struggles.

Lambert said: "Chris has had a great season for us. People will give the main one to either Bale, Suarez or Van Persie. But they might go for Benteke as the Young Player of the Year.

"We can't stop clubs from bidding for him. But he has three years left on his contract and he's playing well here."
