But the Scot admitted the Belgium international needs to, at least, match last season's 19-goal haul.
The Villa boss said: "Christian is totally fine. He just needs a little bit more fitness work probably and we will see how he is.
"He's our player and, hopefully, he will have the same season as he had last year, to go and do it again. He's been terrific for us since he's been here.
"The main thing is for him to concentrate on Aston Villa and doing well which I know, 100 per cent, he will do. The main thing for me is he's going to be here."
