Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert hopes to secure Andi Weimann to a new deal.

Negotiations may not be settled until the end of the season with Villa in danger of being relegated - but Weimann, 21, is keen to stay.

Lambert said: "It would be great if Andreas signs. We're still talking.

"He has been really on top of his game and taken his chance in the first team."

Weimann added: "I've always been happy here."
