Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is ready for crunch talks with his frozen out senior players.

Once the final match of the season is out of the way at Wigan on Sunday, he has agreed to address issues with the likes of Darren Bent, Stephen Ireland and Shay Given - all of whom are high wage-earners.

Lambert said: "With the experienced players, the wages are massive and that is not what this club has to do now. The remit of bringing in young players is still there because of the finances."
