Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert was full of praise for Chris Herd after their 1-1 draw at QPR.
Lambert called Herd's efforts "outstanding" as he excelled in a three-man backline at Loftus Road, alongside Ciaran Clark and Nathan Baker.
He told Villa's website: "Herdy was outstanding, he really was.
"We threw him in in training on Thursday and that was it.
"So to come in like that was really excellent. That's a compliment to him.
"We threw it on them the other day. Full credit to them."
