Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is confident signing Norwich City striker Grant Holt.
The Daily Star says Holt has been hurt by being considered 'too old' for an extra 12 months on his existing deal.
He feels he has been caught up in the salary stakes and it seems increasingly unlikely Norwich could fend off a serious bid by Lambert.
Even doubling the striker's £20,000-a-week wages will still come in well within Villa's restructured salary scale.
Lambert is looking for guaranteed goals to get him off to a flyer at Villa.
Holt proved the key figure for Lambert in Norwich's rise through two divisions to the Premier League.
