Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has defended underfire Manchester United counterpart David Moyes.
Vila host United tomorrow.
"I think people are getting carried away with where they are in the table," said Villa's boss. "They are still a very good team.
"Let's face it, any manager going in there would have found it hard. So I think the criticism David has received is over the top.
"You can't even afford to draw matches. Those are the standards Manchester United have set over the past 20 years under Sir Alex Ferguson.
"And when they fall below those stands people say: 'They are a spent force.' I've never bought into that.
"I'm pretty sure David Moyes will get the job right. You need time to bed yourself in."
