Villa boss Lambert: Callum Robinson deserved his chance

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert was pleased with Callum Robinson after he made his Premier League debut in their draw against Southampton.

Robinson's only other involvement was as a late substitute in the Capital One Cup exit to Tottenham last August and Lambert admits the youngster has a lot to learn.

"He's only a baby," said Lambert.

"He's been doing really well with the reserves. He's got years and years to go before he can be classified as a massive professional footballer.

"But he's on the right little ladder at the moment and he's a really great kid. I think I've always said if your good enough I'll play you. He's deserved his chance."
