Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is delighted with Matt Lowton's recent form.
The right-back has been consistent this season in a team that has been anything but.
Asked whether he merited a call-up to the England ranks, Lambert said: "It's entirely in his own hands. His performances over the course of the year have been high. The other night I thought he was outstanding.
"If you don't give someone the opportunity, how do you know? You don't. They are the ones that play the game. If they can step up to the plate, they are the ones who cross the line.
"All you do is give them the confidence to go and play and they get better and better in every game.
"I believe the lads can do it and they are performing. That's for sure."
