Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is happy to sell permanently Stephen Ireland to Stoke City.

Lambert has said Ireland has his blessing to leave the club and let Stoke take over the remainder of his contract until the end of the season.

"I don't want to stop anyone from playing football," said Lambert.

"I think they are trying to do something at the minute, so I'll just wait and see."
