Villa boss interested in Tottenham's Defoe, Stoke's Jones

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert admits he is interested in adding to his attacking stocks ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Scottish tactician is being linked with moves for Tottenham's Jermain Defoe and Stoke City's Kenwyne Jones and although he is unsure if anything will occur, he is keen on both strikers.

"You are talking about two really good players, different types of players there," he said of ahead of tomorrow's season opener against West Ham United.

"I think a club this size will always be linked with players of that ilk.

"I don't think you ever stop looking for players. You have always got to try and improve.

"Whether they come in or not, we will have to wait and see but any manager will tell you, you are always going to look for players."
