Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier insists Ashley Young will not be sold.
Young, 25, is stalling on contract talks until next summer and that has sparked interest from a host of clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham.
But Houllier insisted: "Seeing Ashley linked with other clubs doesn't keep me awake at night.
"There is no way he is going in January - unless they buy the club. You say Martin O'Neill said £80m? Eight zero? Maybe more!"
Young, who cost a then-record £9.65million from Watford in 2007, has seen team-mates Gareth Barry and James Milner depart in successive years. His current deal runs out in 2012.
Houllier is more concerned with helping Young make the permanent step up into the England squad.
The player, who has struggled to cope with the jump in level in the past, was a substitute in the midweek friendly defeat against France.
Houllier added: "We have top players here who are on the verge of getting to international level. The target for them and for me is to make them regular international level. To do that you have to be very good with your club.
"I think this is the target for Ashley - to get to the higher level. He is not there yet but he will make it. I want him to repeat his outstanding games, simple as that. Eight in a row."
