Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier hopes to hand Jean Makoun a debut next week.
He is set to make his debut in Tuesday's rearranged clash at Wigan as they wait on a UK permit.
Houllier said: "Makoun should get his visa today and he should be able to travel to England on Friday.
"I don't think he will be involved against Manchester City. It is too early but he might be involved against Wigan."
