Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier wants to find a new right-back signing.
Houllier will lose on-loan defender Kyle Walker back to Tottenham in the summer.
The Birmingham Mail says established right-back Luke Young is returning to fitness after a medium-term lay-off with knee trouble, centre-half Carlos Cuellar can deputise at full-back and rookie Eric Lichaj is gaining experience with Championship club Leeds.
But Houllier has already started to identify possible future targets for the No.2 role in the knowledge that Walker will return to his parent club.
