Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier reckons Roy Hodgson got a raw deal at Anfield.
The Frenchman says his good friend will thrive at West Bromwich Albion.
Aston Villa boss Houllier said: "He knew he was not given the time but once the results were not there I would say he didn't get the support he needed.
"In between he had two owners so it was difficult for him.
"I thought it would be Chris at West Brom but they turned to Roy - maybe because of his experience of handling the situation."
