Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is surprised by the success of Demba Ba at Newcastle United.
The Scot also revealed he considered signing the red-hot Magpies forward Demba Ba when he was in charge at Birmingham City.
"People were casting doubts about his physical fitness.
"But the big man has hardly been missing since he arrived.
"I always knew he could score goals and when I was at Birmingham we looked at him at Hoffenheim.
"We thought about going for him for a long time." He said: "I have been surprised by just how well Demba Ba has done here.
