Villa boss Eck: Agbonlahor showing England form

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish feels Gabby Agbonlahor was in England form for their win over Norwich City.

He believes Agbonlahor would frighten any defence on his current form.

McLeish said: "In that kind of form, Gabby has got to have caught the eye (of Capello).

"Benty has already established himself and scored some goals for England.

"But Gabby has got to take confidence from the way he has been playing and the expectation levels are now on him to deliver in every game.

"That is what you expect of a top player. He is still young and has been really consistent this season.

"His performances this season have been exceptional.

"He is quick but also got other strings to his bow. He has got good feet, can beat a man in a short space, and was clever with his goal."

Agbonlahor's hopes of being chosen in the squad for England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro last month were dashed because of a back injury.

But McLeish confirmed: "Gabby is in the provisional squad. He is available for selection this time if Fabio chooses.

"On his form today he would frighten any defence."
