Villa blow as Okore set to spend nine months on sidelines

Aston Villa have been rocked by a serious knee injury sustained by Jores Okore.

The 21-year old Ivorian-born Denmark defender only joined Villa from Nordsjaelland for £4million in the summer transfer window but is expected to miss up to nine months after sustaining a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in the weekend's loss to Newcastle United.

"Following clinical examination and the results of an MRI scan, the club can confirm that Jores Okore sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee in the game against Newcastle on Saturday," read a Villa statement.

"Jores will undergo surgery in due course and he could be sidelined for a period of up to nine months."
