Aston Villa and Everton drew 2-2 at Villa Park, a result that does little for either of their European ambitions. Twice Everton took the lead through Tim Cahill but Villa battled back to level in the last minute courtesy of a Phil Jagielka own goal.
On balance Everton will feel they deserved the three points but even a draw does little for Villa's Champion League ambitions.
The Toffees led at the break thanks to a trademark Cahill header from a Leighton Baines cross, the hosts defence failing to mark the Australian.
Gabriel Agbonlahor's glancing header restored parity in the 72nd minute for little more than a minute before Cahill struck again with a carbon copy of his first effort.
Then with time ticking away and Everton clinging on to their lead, Jagielka, under pressure from John Carew headed into his own net, past a scrambling Tim Howard.
