Aston Villa are favourites ahead of Manchester City for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The Daily Mail says Villa boss Martin O'Neill has also prioritised Santa Cruz and, if they are forced to sell, then Blackburn would rather the player head to the Midlands than join up with his old Rovers manager, Mark Hughes, at City.

Villa are believed to have had an initial offer of around £10m turned down.
