Ramos is planning a £30m swoop for Villa as he is worried Dimitar Berbatov still wants to quit the club.

If Valencia indicate a willingness to sell, Spurs can expect stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea.

"Many clubs have contacted me to ask about the chances of a player who is guaranteed to score goals in England," said Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo in the News of the World.

"But I am convinced if Spurs present an offer Valencia will study the subject."
