Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph feels he's over his injury problems.

The former Leeds United starlet was one of the hottest properties around and when Villa came calling, it looked like the only way was up.

But within a few months Delph was stretchered off the training pitch with a serious cruciate knee ligament injury and was out for 10 months.

Then an ankle injury halted his progress and in three seasons at Villa Park, Delph had been restricted to just 26 appearances.

"I had a terrible start. Some really bad injuries, struggled to find fitness. I'd get fit, get injured again," he said.

"Every player is their own worst critic. I'm just being honest. The start of my career was dreadful. It was down to injuries it's not something I could have helped.

"Probably the worst injury you can get in football is your anterior cruciate ligament, I also did my lateral meniscus, and my medial as well."
