Vietnam blasted their way into Suzuki Cup contention with a 4-0 rout of Laos. The Vietnamese required a win to progress through to the semi-finals where they will now meet Singapore on December 17.

It was all tied up at half-time before Vietnam took the ascendency when Nguyen Viet Thang opened up the scoring three minutes after half-time before Pham Luong struck a brilliant shot on 63 minutes; both players coming on as substitutes after the main break.

Huynh Thanh put the contest beyond doubt when he glanced home in the 66th minute and then Phan Thanh Bin rounded out the result with a goal nine minutes from time.
