Christian Vieri refused to criticise Atalanta fans as he made is dramatic departure yesterday.

Atalanta have paid out Vieri's contract after the striker was booed by his own fans during a friendly against Bellinzona on Saturday.

The former Inter Milan and Juventus star had had enough, though there's no news over whether he intends to hang up his boots.

"I want to thank Atalanta for the support shown to me during this championship and my previous experiences with the Nerazzurri shirt," said Vieri in a statement.
