Former Inter and AC Milan striker Christian Vieri is standing by his decision to retire.

Vieri has been linked with Botafogo, with the Brazilians claiming a deal is close.

But he said: "Yes, I have decided to stop.

"I would be leaving for somewhere new every day if you believed the Press."
