Vieira still undecided on retirement after Man City stint

Manchester City midfielder Patrick Vieira could well decide to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign. At 34 years of age, and having struggled with injuries over recent years, he accepts that the end of a glittering career could be just around the corner.

However the World Cup winner has revealed that were he to get an interesting offer, he would be prepared to delay his retirement for another 12 months.

"Will I end my career in June? It is still 50-50 at the moment," Vieira told L'Equipe.

"It would not be a problem for me to stop tomorrow because I have been lucky enough to experience everything.

"But, as I have been injured a lot during the last four years, I would not rule out the prospect of playing on.

"I still want to play and if I have an exciting proposition here or somewhere else in England, I would probably play on. If I have nothing exciting, I will stop.

"Will I come back to France? Probably not. I also can't see myself playing for a mid-table team in England. A move elsewhere? I don't know.

"There is a chance I could stop, but at the moment my mind isn't telling me that I will be stopping in a couple of months."

The 34 year old admits he came close to quitting last summer, after being overlooked by France coach Raymond Domenech for the 2010 World Cup, but was persuaded to stay on at City.

"Last summer quitting did cross my mind," he said.

"After the disappointment of not going to the World Cup I thought about it, but City wanted me for one more season.

"Do I still bear a grudge against Raymond Domenech? Not as a coach, he made his choices, but as a man I still hold a grudge against him, and I always will."
