Nemanja Vidic believes Manchester United's slim title hopes took a hit on the weekend.
The Red Devils fell 12 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea after drawing 1-1 with north-west rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
Former United centre-back Vidic feels Jose Mourinho's side can now only focus on a top-three finish.
"Realistically we are out of the title race," he told ESPN.
“That's my opinion. But, in recent weeks, the way we have played is encouraging.
“If we keep playing like that then the top three is our target."
United currently sit sixth on 40 points from 21 matches, five points in arrears of third-placed Liverpool.
