Vidic hails his Man Utd teammates after derby win

Manchester United skipper Nemanja Vidic hailed his teammates after Sunday's win at Manchester City.

Vidic returns to a side that is creaking defensively yet still stands top of the league with a six-point lead after a 3-2 victory in last Sunday's derby against champions City.

It was a performance and win that Vidic believes has given United their belief back and sent out a warning to everyone else.

Vidic said: "The great thing is we went and ended their two-year unbeaten run there, took the three points and showed we can win those derby games because we lost both of them last season.

"There was a big pressure on the players, I believe. You have that in mind, losing those two games, and all the talk about that game at home against them.

"Now we have proved we are a good team, we are disciplined, do the right thing, are hard to beat and can beat anyone.

"From the first minute when I saw the team and how we were going to play, I knew it was going to be a good game for us and that we could not lose.

"The way the team was determined, the way they were closing down and challenging for the ball, you knew the mentality was right and that we had prepared well for that game.

"Even after five to 10 minutes I knew we were going to have a good game."
