Nemanja Vidic and Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson are reported to have clashed before Sunday's FA Cup humiliation by Leeds United.

Vidic was a late withdrawal from Sunday's humiliating defeat to League One side Leeds.

Ferguson refused to give the reason for Vidic's absence when he was quizzed after the shock defeat, and said: "I couldn't tell you what the situation is. I couldn't tell you at all."

But a source told the Daily Star: "Vidic was pulled just before the game against Leeds and words were said."

The clash between the pair is sure to push Vidic further towards the exit at Old Trafford amid suggestions he is unsettled at the club.
