Vidic backs Man Utd to hit back against Bayern Munich

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has backed his side to hit back in the return leg against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarer-finals.

The Red Devils lost 2-1 at Allianz Arena on Tuesday night and will have to face the Germans at Old Trafford without their leading scorer Wayne Rooney who will miss with an ankle injury.

But the Serbia international has full confidence that the team can come together and push through the final four in Europe.

"We showed this season, we play as a team," said Vidic. "It is not just about one man.

"Definitely Wayne Rooney has had a great season. He is unbelievable, one of the best in the world. But sometimes big players are missing, and others need to be ready.

"Dimitar had a great game against Bolton on Saturday. He is a great footballer. He scored twice himself and can set up goals for other players as well.

"We have a good squad. We just need to believe in ourselves and believe in each other."
