Victory's Eureka flag given the flick

The flag that is used by Melbourne Victory supporters has been banned by the Football Federation of Australia. The Eureka flag is deemed to be a political symbol and fans who brandish it at future matches will be thrown out and have the flag confiscated. Blue and White Brigade supporters' group leader Adam Tennenini told the Herald Sun of the issue. "The Eureka flag was actually the first emblem of the first Victory supporters' group. We've had the Eureka flag at our games since day dot, and all of a sudden it's got political connotations and we can't fly it," he said. Both the club and a Eureka descendents group have backed the supporters to defy the decision and continue to fly the flags.
