After a controversial week, Real Zaragoza coach Victor Fernandez was delighted to see his players respond with a 4-1 victory over Villarreal yesterday.

With warring pair Andres D'Alessandro and Pablo Aimar starting on the bench, Zaragoza thumped the Yellow Submarines with Ricardo Oliveira, Oscar, Diego Milito and Sergio Garcia all getting on the scoresheet.

Victor said afterwards: "The victory has been the fruit of collective work that has allowed the brilliance of some players to come to the fore.

"Zaragoza has shown pain and pride in the last days and it was necessary to show our best. We played a great game and with great attitude."
