Veteran striker Riccardo Zampagna fired a parting shot at Atalanta after completing his move to Serie BVicenza yesterday.

"My choice was dictated by first impressions and I really appreciated the way the club and its directors approached me with humility, humanity and clear intentions," said the striker.

Zampagna was frozen out of the Atalanta squad several weeks ago after a blazing row with Coach Del Neri and did not play again until his transfer to Vicenza in Serie B.

"This is a very special challenge I am entering into and I decided to take this path contrary to the advice given to me by friends and colleagues," continued the former Messina hitman.

"If we can avoid relegation, and I am sure we will, then it'll be a great achievement I will be very proud of."
