Veteran striker Phillips asked to help out as assistant boss with managerless Palace

Crystal Palace caretaker manager Keith Millen has asked veteran striker Kevin Phillips to become his assistant for Saturday's clash with Arsenal, reports the Daily Express. Millen said: "I have asked Kevin to help me out on Saturday. He is a player I respect very much."

Millen, who has said he does not want the job himself, added: "Ian (Holloway) came in today and spoke to the players. There is an air of sadness around but it is my job to lift the players."
