Vermaelen to take Arsenal captaincy

Thomas Vermaelen appears set to be named Arsenal captain.

Vermaelen has been confirmed as stand-in skipper for their tour of the Far East with Robin van Persie left at home.

A permanent switch of skipper seems inevitable.
