Thomas Vermaelen insists Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas could still remain with the club long-term.

Fabregas admitted he was keen on joining Barcelona in the summer but stayed after an ugly transfer saga.

However, Vermaelen revealed: "Now he's 100 per cent with Arsenal. You can learn from him. What's happened is in the past. I don't accept he will go next summer because he is happy here and he's so important to us, directing players on the field."
