Vermaelen focused on third-placed finish for Arsenal

Thomas Vermaelen says that all Arsenal is focused on is taking third place this season.

Before the midweek round of matches, the Gunners sit two points clear of North London rivals Tottenham - who are today in action against Norwich City - with six games remaining.

Following Arsenal's 1-0 home win over Manchester City yesterday, Vermaelen is only looking at his side's results to clinch a Champions League spot behind Manchester United and City.

"We know Manchester City and Manchester United are in a fight for the title, but we are also in a massive fight for third place, which is really important," said Vermaelen.

"We only look at ourselves and try to win every game.

"It was a really important win, especially after the result from last week because we are in a big fight for third place."
