Verbeek's Socceroos in Korea to win

Australian national team coach Pim Verbeek says his players are in Korea to win. The Socceroos meet Korea Republic in Seoul on Saturday in an international friendly, giving Verbeek a good opportunity to test some of his 'second string' players as a bunch of top-liners will be missing.

Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell, Lucas Neill, David Carney and Luke Wilkshire are all unavailable but Verbeek is confident whoever he puts on the pitch will do the job for their nation.

"I want to win and I think every game a player comes to he wants to win,'' Verbeek said.

"At this moment to see some new players play, to see them play well, that gives me a lot of possibilities for the upcoming months and that makes life easier for a coach"

Verbeek, who is very familiar with South Korean football after having three stints in charge of the national team, knows his Socceroos are in for a tough contest.

"They have selected a good team, Verbeek added.

"There's prestige (and) Koreans don't like losing. They want to win at home against Australia. That makes it a very interesting game.''
