Verbeek names Australia squad for Kuwait qualifier

Pim Verbeek has named his 23- man squad that will take on Kuwait in an Asian Cup qualifier next month.

The Socceroos face the Kuwaitis in Kuwait City on January 6 in the second last group stage match and need at least a point to remain in the top of their group.

Kuwait, who are ranked 104th in the world, caused an upset when they defeated Australia 1-0 in Canberra and currently sit on top of the Socceroos on the Group B table.

Verbeek included eight players from overseas club in the squad as well as 15 from the A-League with Brisbane Roar's Tommy Oar, Melbourne Victory's Matthew Kemp and Perth Glory's Tando Velaphi receiving their first call-ups.
