Australia national team coach Pim Verbeek has ensured that Galatasaray star Harry Kewell will be fit for the World Cup.

The 31-year old winger/attacker is struggling with an ongoing groin injury that he aggravated last week and there are fears about his fitness going into the finals in South Africa but after naming his 30-man preliminary squad, Verbeek was adamant the former Leeds and Liverpool man would be fine.

"I have spoken to Harry and our medical staff ... they all say there is no problem,'' Verbeek said.

"Harry will be fit and will play."
